HTTPs before HTTP

website security

Another update from Google states that Google will try to index HTTPs pages first before trying to index HTTP pages in a website. In other words when Google tries to index pages in a website it will try to look if the website pages will work with HTTPs first, if they work then Google will index them first to show in the Google results.

Overview of the Update

The update states that “If two URLs from a same domain having same content are shared with two different protocols then Google will index the HTTPs URLs first. This change has taken effect with the Google Indexing system. As usual the HTTPs page shouldn’t have been blocked by robots.txt for this function to be carried out. One also have to make sure that the page to be indexed is not redirected to an insecure HTTP page.

The whole idea behind this latest update is to make the web lot more secure. As more and more security issues rises everyday Google are ramping up their efforts to make the web more secure with updates like this.
