Google Pagerank Toolbar Deactivated
Google has recently removed pageranks from Google toolbars. The news of Google removing pagerank from their toolbars has been around for quite some time as they have been trying to demote the importance of pagerank for quite some time now.
There was an update that they will be removing their pagerank from their toolbar and it will go dark sometime in the future. This month the toolbar has finally gone dark meaning Google has taken action in removing pagerank from their toolbar.
Why the move?
Pagerank toolbar has been documented with many flaws and it is seen as a welcome step to remove this feature. A lot of issues like spam mails asking for links, inappropriate comments in link drops have been related to the toolbar. Pagerank also led to the link selling spree which was one of a factor in ranking of webpages.
With the launch of Google Chrome browser the importance of pagerank faded further. There was no version of pagerank toolbar released for Chrome which all pointed to the removal of the feature at some point of time. With the removal of pagerank there will be no more dropping links in comments sections, stress on buying links and such factors which were all a factor for pagerank. Google will have its own factors for ranking a webpage and third part software’s to boost rankings are likely to take a hit with the removal of the toolbar feature.
